Paul G. Hyman, Jr.: United States Bankruptcy Judge

A Florida native himself, Judge Hyman was born in Miami, Florida. He studied in the University of Miami School of Law and he earned a Juris Doctor. His college Alma Mater is Vanderbilt University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. 

You might also know Paul G. Hyman Jr. as the husband of Kelly Hyman, a former actress-turned-lawyer, TV legal analyst, and media commentary. Before meeting Kelly, he was married to Attorney Judy Hyman until she died in 2010. Together, they had twin children named Zachary and Kaylee.

Judge Hyman’s legal career began at the Britton Cohen Kaufman & Schantz. There, he worked as an assistant attorney and practiced commercial litigation until he became the Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.

Paul G. Hyman Jr. moved to Denver and joined Holme Roberts & Owens to continue his bankruptcy practice. Among his notable clients were the United Bank of Colorado and other large corporate debtors whom he represented in their Chapter 11 proceedings.

Judge Hyman is the former co-chairperson of the Bankruptcy Judicial Liaison Committee, and a member of the Archives and History Committee of the Florida Bar and a part of the executive committee at the Business Law Section.
